Morpheus Soul’s Most Played & Praised 2014

Greetings & salutations.

As 2014 comes to a close and we prepare for a new year, a new chapter. I need to pay homage to my most played future classics over the past twelve months. You know, the one’s that have the nod factor, the toe tappers, the made me stand up and listen, pull it up selector, rewind and come again selections…the one’s that left me with pocket lint but were worth every penny, the vinyl releases, CD’s, mp3s and cassettes!!!

But firstly, I’d like to say thank you to every single artist and musician for another fantastic year of musicianship of the highest order, if you listen to the right shows, that is. So many incredible long players to choose from, D’Angelo surprised us all, Incognito continue to release top quality music and The Brand New Heavies make a welcome return. Hip-hopreleases have been incredible this year with collaborations from DJ Premier & Royce Da 5’9″ [PHryme] and Skyzoo & Torae, also rap legends / icons turned up the heat once again with all new long players from Diamond D, Shabaam Sahdeeq, Pharoahe Monch,Dilated Peoples, The Roots and Souls Of Mischief

I’d also like to say a massive thank you to each and everyone that has supported AMorpheus Soul pod-cast, everybody that has listened, appreciated, shared, liked and commented. I know that there has been nothing new from me since June but I am working on it folks. I’m still reissuing classic mixes, still looking for a radio station to bring back ‘The Morpheus Soul Show‘ and I still only DJ at parties, bars & clubs with vinyl records. In 2014 vinyl has made an incredible comeback, and where record stores were disappearing a few years back, I am now elated to say that I have four shops within walking distance of my home. A prediction for 2015 will be the return of the cassette tape as there has been a number of dope releases over the past months. Shouts to all my fb, twitter and instagram family until next year…The beat still goes on…

So here it is good people, DJ Johnny Rebels most played and favourite hip-hop & soul / jazz albums, producers & groups, EP’s & mix-tapes, from January ‘14 to date. Also included are my Top Ten 7″ Vinyl releases of 2014. Big Up!!!
